  • Intiñán Museum: 
    Interactive exhibits show how the Incas used ancient technology to determine the middle of the earth. Try science experiments such as balancing an egg on a nail and the effects of the Coriolis force on earth.
  • Middle of the World Monument: 
    The monument is built on the historic site where a French explorer calculated the line of the equator in 1736. Visit the 98-foot monument and stand one foot on each side of the hemisphere.

    Ride one of the highest aerial lifts in the world. Take the cable car from the edge of the city center up the east side of Pichincha Volcano to Cruz Loma lookout.

    One of the highest statues in South America (even taller than the Christ the Redeemer statue in the Brazil).
  • Old Town Walking Tour:
    • San Francisco Church: Established in 1536 by Franciscan monks, this magnificent architectural masterpiece features a museum in its convent with sixteenth- and seventeenth-century art.
    • La Compañía de Jesus Church: Jesuit architects began work here in 1605. Today, it is considered one of the finest examples of Spanish Baroque architecture in South America.
    • Carondelet Palace: Known as the Palace of the Government,  this building is over three hundred years old and functions as the seat of Ecuador's government.

    • To get a closer view, we board dinghies for coastal exploration because there is no disembarking site here.

    • The youngest and most pristine island of the archipelago.  Here you will discover an amazing interplay between barren terrain and abundant wildlife.

Start with a hearty breakfast before exploring Isabela Island. After lunch, meet our naturalist guide for a tour of northwest Isabela Island.
 
Isabela Island
  • Urbina Bay:
    • Disembark at Urbina Bay, on the western side of Isabela Island, the result of the tectonic uplift of the ocean floor. As a result, we will see plenty of coral, shells and colorful Galapagos land iguanas and, if lucky, we will spot giant tortoises!
    • While sailing Bolivar Channel, we will have a high chance of spotting several species of whales.
  • Tagus Cove:
    • In the afternoon enjoy the secluded Tagus Cove on the northwest of Isabela, an anchorage once serving as a pitstop for pirates and whalers for several centuries. Upon disembarking, take an uphill hike to Darwin Crater.
    • Those feeling adventurous may choose to snorkel or ride kayaks along the dramatic coastal landscape.

Rabida Island

  • Rabida beach:
    • Disembark in the morning onto the red-colored beach. A stroll along the beach allows us to observe marine iguanas, mockingbirds, yellow warblers and several species of Darwin's finches.
    • This is a great place to snorkel from the beach. Non-snorkelers are invited for glass-bottom boat exploration of life underneath the waves. 

Santa Cruz Island

  • Cerro Dragon:
    • The north shore of Santa Cruz hosts the fascinating landscapes of Cerro Dragon (Dragon Hill). The walk here involves circling a brackish-water lagoon often frequented by lagoon birds.
    • Further inland, the trail offers a beautiful view of the bay and the western islands of the archipelago as well as the chance to observe land iguanas.

    • Head into the highlands of Santa Cruz Island aboard a private bus, a great place to look for the emblematic finches that inspired Darwin. Endemic scalesia trees also dominte this area.
    • The highlands are a great place for exploring the exuberant vegetation that is home to giant tortoises that roam about freely.

    • Disembark to visit the historic "Post Office Barrel" that has functioned as the mail center in the archipelago for over two centuries. Views from La Loberia and the Baroness Viewpoint are rewarding.
    • You may also enjoy great kayaking and swimming from the beach.
  • Champion Islet & Cormorant Point:
    • Before disembarking at Cormorant Point, enjoy snorkeling or riding a glass-bottom boat that travels along the coast of an extinct cone called Champion Islet.
    • Visit Cormorant Point which has an olivine-crystal beach and brackish water lagoon where bird species like American flamingos can be observed.  After a brief walk to the other side of the island, enjoy the white-sand beach where sea turtles come out at night to nest.

        • Quito is located 9,350ft above sea level. Travelers may experience altitude sickness in destinations higher than 8,000ft above sea level. Common symptoms include headache, nausea, shortness of breath, fatigue, and lack of appetite. For most travelers, this is manageable through medication, herbal remedies, and breathing exercises.
